Maintenance Supervisor
Seltzer’s Smokehouse is looking for a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor who is ready to join us as we head into a new chapter in our amazing story. With a renewed vision from our next generation CEO, the iconic Seltzer’s brand is preparing for national expansion through innovation, creativity, and forward thinking.
Role: Reporting to Plant Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor position is responsible for overseeing the Maintenance Technicians in performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to Safety, GMP and Preventive Maintenance Systems and Processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with teammates and other personnel through two-way verbal communication (speech and hearing).
- Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
- Knowledge and use of basic office equipment as well as computer programs and software.
- Perform highly diversified duties to install, repair and maintain production machines and plant facility’s equipment.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
- Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders as well as follow sketches and diagrams to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, repair or replace parts, test and make necessary adjustments.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities according to schedule.
- Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
- Use and maintain accountability for a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to the proper supervisor.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Ability to learn and repair packaging related equipment, mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic tools, and conveyor systems and general building repairs.
- Have a working knowledge of Distribution Center building codes.
- Must have reliable transportation
- Ensure food safety and food defense in the plant.
- Oversee adjacent rental property light repair and or scheduling of contractors
Education and Experience:
- Prior leadership training and skills
- 2-year technical degree in maintenance related field or 3 years relevant experience.
- Prior experience in Food Manufacturing, Preferred
- Must be able to use all basic hand tools as weak as power and pneumatic tools
- Must have extensive electrical knowledge
- 12 and 24 volt DC
- 3 phase / 480 volt AC
- Candidates must have basic computer skills and ability to learn new software
- Welding experience is a plus but not required
Core Competencies:
- Manual dexterity.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read schematics
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a warehouse environment and in outside yard operations.
- Ability to safely operate various power equipment including packaging machines, fork lift, pallet jack, high reach order picker, and scissor lift.
Please note: This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crawling and climbing all day, as well comfort working from heights, and the ability to lift, push and/or move items up to 50 pounds on a repetitive basis.
